Access Windows or Unlock Blaupunkt Lucca 3.3

Yep! I bought a Lucca 3.3. Was just checking a store and found one of those for 60 euros! What a bargain!

So I did a little searching and was able to find some information on how to unlock this baby and tought on writing a nice how-to.

So first of al, the package doesn’t include a wall charger, nor a USB cable, but I had a USB cable just laying around and solved one of the problems. The wall charger was a bit more dificult, but if you have a power converter you should be ok. The specifications state that the output should be of 12V, altough I’m using an old one I had here with an output of 9V, and everything seems ok =)

So, on to the hacking.

First reboot your Lucca and and when it reaches the second screen, the one stating that you should not drive and use the device, tap the following sequence on the touchscreen:

-> Tap on the upper-left corner

-> Tap on the upper-right corner

-> Tap on the lower-right corner

This should get you to a factory settings screen, there you just have to click on the lower-left button, the one with “File Explorer”

And there you go, an explorer window appears =) So, browse to the “Windows” folder and click on “ChangeUSB.exe”. In this new window, choose “ActiveSync”. Reboot you Lucca.

In you PC you have to install ActiveSync, but a special version, only ActiveSync 3.8 will work. I’m hosting the file here, but if you’re some kind of paranoid and are afraid that I have tampered with the file you can find a version at OldVersion here.

As soon as it is installed, when you plug the device, ActiveSync should recognize it and set it up. I would recommend you to *NOT* pair the device, so you can have a greater control on what is sent to the device. But hey, maybe I’m being paranoid here…

Now you have to download CeRegEditor, which I am also hosting here, but you can easily find it with Google. Install it, open it, and go to “Connection” and then click on “Connect”.

In this registry editor, go to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE” and then “init”.

In the variable “Launch50″, change the value from “\Windows\LuccaLanguage.exe” to “\Windows\Explorer.exe”. Reboot the Lucca.

Et voilá! =)

Within the next hours I’ll try to get TomTom to run on it, as well as develop a custom menu for the Lucca, if I succed I’ll post it here.

Enjoy!

    Hi all,

I’ve installed on my Blaupunkt Travelpilot 100 Navigator the Tom Tom 7, that works perfectly, but I can’t run it automaticaly when I turn on the device, as the default navigator.
What I want to do is that, when I click on Navigator on the Menu Navigator/Settings, Tom Tom Navigator 7 (file “Tom Tom Navigator.exe” of SD Card) is loaded instead of the Travelpilot (file “nav_app.exe.exe” in “Marina/BIN” directory of flash disk).

In the “MARINA/BIN” directory of Flash Disk there are the following files:

    Info.txt
    main_sys_exe.exe
    nav_app_exe.exe
    navapp_dll.dll
    osal_pure_dll.dll
    view_app_exe.exe

There isn’t the file DNMainUI or Settings.ini as Blaupunkt Lucca.

What can I do to run Tom Tom automaticaly?

    Thanks

    Regards

  5. jpoa says:

I would say that the menu is the “main_sys_exe.exe”, try to run the file when you are in the desktop and see which one is which.

Can you access the registry? Can you see an entry loading any of these files in the registry?

  6. Daniele says:

    Hi

    I’ve solved the problem.
I’ve substituted the file main_sys_exe.exe with a new file main_sys_exe.exe that has got a link to the file \Storage Card\TomTom\TomTom Navigator.exe.
    It works!

    Regards

Hi folks, after finding this page i was able to unlock the Lucca 3.3 and get TomTom 7 working from the SD-card. I also found a very easy and preferable way of auto-starting it. You can keep the original Lucca menu, but change the Navigate-button to start TomTom instead of the original Lucca navigator.
Start ChangeUSB.exe and change to USB-disk, making sure to also enable “My Flash Disk”.
When you restart&reconnect to your PC you will see both the SD-card and the internal flash disk. On the internal flash disk root you will see a file named “SETTING.INI”.
You can use notepad and edit the first line in this file:
    “pathNavi: \My Flash Disk\Lucca\Lucca.exe”
    and change it to:
    “pathNavi: \SDMMC Disk\Tomtom\TomTom Navigator.exe”
(or similar for your own path- and file name). It should also work fine if you are using iGo or similar navi.

The advantage of using this method is that you will still keep access to Music player and Picture viewer, but most importantly – access to changing backlight & sound settings with the MENU button!

Run LuccaStart.exe or LuccaLanguage.exe from \Windows to test the new Navigation-button!
(PS – disconnect USB-cable first, or else the OK-button on the second screen won’t work)

If it works as you’d want it to, you can run ChangeUSB.exe and reset to ActiveSynk, and change the registry key back to LuccaLanguage.exe. Voila – Lucca menu with your preferred Navigator!

    Cheers
    Affi

    problem solved!!

I have copy all files from dayton pn6000 firmware to the SD root and than copy lucca 5.3 update to the root of the SD and overlap all files.

The vdo installtion firmware have a file or a command that erases Nand Flash.
With this file i have erased my nandfalsh of lucca 5.3 complete. Because the update in blaupunkt.de don’t erase the nandflash. After the erasing nandflash, the update install all firmware to original state.

    1- Donwload this http://www.vdodayton.com/…PSN_1.7.4.2.zip
2- copy all files to sd root
    3- Download this http://www.blaupunkt.de/f…4os1000_341.zip
4-copy all files to the same SD card root and confirm overwrite files
    5-make normal update procedure

    thank you all people

  26. koala says:

Thanks for the info, I got the lucca 3.5d unlocked can access to the ce desktop etc etc no problem, but I am unable to install tomtom, I am using the same sd card hich I use tomtom on my htc windowsmobile but installation fails? What is the best method of istalling tomtom on to this device? Whats needed and how pleasee regards

  27. jpoa says:

I’m not surprised it didn’t worked. The HTC runs on Windows Mobile, the lucca runs on Windows CE. Search Google for demonfatal and tomtom, you should get to a set of instructions. There is a reference to that in this article. I wont post the direct link here, but you can get there easily…

  28. koala says:

thanks for your quick reply, that name demonfatal is no go as most information does not exist anymore. I got Igo 8 working which runs far far better than what the device had originally, but I am really used to using tomtom , can you pkease email some sort of guide for this please many thanks

  29. koala says:

Also anyone knows the tmc hardware device protocol port and baud rate for igo to recognise?

  30. jpoa says:

    Hm, you are right…

I got the information from this forums once: http://gpsunderground.com/forum/

Try looking for TomTom for Win CE.

I will see if I still have some files somewhere, but don’t know :/
